Just a Chihuahua

For some reason, I can't stop doing these things. It's a lot of fun and you learn quite a bit about animal anatomy.
One thing, though. I find the dark-coated characters are hard to distinguish between their planes of anatomy. One way I try to overcome this is to darken the areas in shadow or just behind a more upfront object, such as a shoulder (scapula) or the vastus lateralis muscle in the outside portion of the leg. If any artists out there have any suggestions, please tell me! I accept any criticism, plus, I don't bite.....so to speak.

Life Sketches and Animal Caricature

I was at Barnes and Noble today just sketching some random people. This is an exercise I need to do more often since I haven't committed to on-the-spot sketches in a long time. I felt so rusty, but I managed a few shots.
Also, I decided to do another animal caricature for fun looking at Bark magazine and other pet fancy magazines for reference. I did a bunch of them earlier this year and it's somethings that invigorates me and would be fun to do as freelance for people's pets on the side. If you would like to see more of my pet caricatures, I will be uploading them to my Deviant Art account soon. Have fun!
